Term isotone was given by German Physicist Guggen heimer.

Definition

Atoms of different elements having same number of neutrons, are called isotones.

Ex.       (a) ₁H³, ₂He⁴

(b)        ₆C¹⁴, ₈O¹⁶

(c)       ₁₄Si³⁰, ₁₅P³¹, ₁₆S³²

(d)     S³⁶  ,   Cl³⁷  ,   Ar^{38     ,K39,   _Ca40}

(e)    _Kr⁸⁶, _Sr⁸⁸,   _Zr ⁹⁰   

(f)  Mo⁹⁷, _Ru⁹⁹  

(g)  Ba¹³⁸, La¹³⁹,    Ce¹⁴⁰, Pr¹⁴¹, Nd¹⁴²
